Building Boat Seats

With the weather warming up, boating season is just around the corner. Here in Florida, things slow down a bit but never really stop, making it the perfect time to join a Boat Seat Building Class. In this class, we’ll cover two of the most commonly used seat styles. You’ll learn how to mark, cut, and shape foam, then create a pattern. We’ll go through sewing top stitch, making welt cording, installing listings—sewing it all together and properly attaching everything. All components will be mounted on pressure-treated plywood to create a finished, durable seat.

Next, we’ll build a standard throw cushion with material for both the top and bottom. This includes installing a zipper so foam can be added or replaced as needed and adding snaps and straps to secure the cushion to things like cooler lids or live wells.
